Sitting Under A Tree

It is very important to go out alone, to sit under a tree, not with a book, not with a companion, but by yourself and observe the falling of a leaf, hear the lapping of water, the fisherman’s song, watch the flight of a bird, and of your own thoughts as they chase each other across the space of your mind. If you are able to be alone and watch these things, then you will discover extraordinary riches which no government can tax, no human agency can corrupt, and which can never be destroyed.

The Quiet Life

So much of what we take in is bigger, better and more. But for some of us – small, simple and quiet are all we need. It’s okay to be happy with a calm life.

A quiet mind is richer than a crown.

Bringing Mind Home to Body

Releasing any tension and bringing calm to your body is the first step in restoring wellness. You can’t heal your body if you don’t pay attention to it. Bringing your mind home to your body, you become established in the here and the now. You have a chance to be aware, without judgment, of any pain, tension, or suffering in your body. This is the beginning of healing.

Meditation is relaxing the body and calming the mind.

Moments Of Quiet …

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
